Green… very green
We have transferred the green meadows of Herguijuela as Cuarenta Horas (name of the bull awarded in Madrid 1857), La Vitoria, Herberos etc. to our farms in Las Machucas and Cerros Verdes in Badajoz so as not to lose the true origin of these animals.
We are so concerned about your well-being that we grow our own cereals to guarantee your best nutrition.
Uncle Regino's livestock
1830
In 1830, in La Herguijuela, Juan Antonio Hernández Dominguez created the RR livestock farm. Currently, his great-grandson and great-great-grandchildren have achieved a system of vertical integration, thanks to their knowledge in genetics and agronomic engineering.
Now in 2023 his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren continue the seventh generation of this project with the excitement of the first day!
About us
-
Our origins:
Sagrajas and Valdebótoa are two districts of Badajoz that are not in Gredos, but many of the T-bone steaks from Ávila that anyone eats when visiting a town in the central massif originate from a cattle farm that grazes on the outskirts of Badajoz, specifically on the farms of Las Machucas and Cerros Verdes.
For forty years Pepe Benito taught Genetics at the School of Agricultural Engineering in Badajoz, belonging to the University of Extremadura, a profession that he combines with that of a farmer.
Until not long ago, this man from Avila living in Badajoz practiced transhumance from Extremadura to the Sierra de Gredos (La Herguijuela). What he did not know is that his cows, those that remain in Extremadura, are from a lineage that dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, which gives their approximately 250 mothers a very high level of purity. -
Our race:
The Avileña-Negra Ibérica breed comes from the Iberian Black Trunk and has its origin in the mountainous areas of the center of the peninsula. It is a very rustic breed, well adapted to the environment, which has been occupying areas of difficult use. In addition, it has a good productive capacity and resistance to diseases and the cows are very good breeders with high fertility.
The Official Catalog of Livestock Breeds includes the Avileña-Negra Ibérica bovine breed in the Group of Native Breeds for Development.
-
Our future:
Currently everything indicates that this Avileña-Negra Ibérica cattle ranch will exceed three centuries due to the interest shown in taking charge of the iron by his youngest daughter, Isabel Benito Galiardo. With this agricultural engineer at the helm, the sixth generation will be reached, something that his great-great-grandfather's father surely never dreamed of when he set aside the first cows to start one of the longest-lived irons in Spain.
Our values
Excellence
“We are what we do repeatedly. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle (W. Durant)
Continuing with this philosophy, we have been taking care of every detail since 1830. Our goal is not to be the biggest but the best.
Tradition
Generation after generation we have been transmitting our values, the natural and traditional way of doing things.
Sometimes, everything around us has to change, to realize that the important thing is that nothing changes.
I respect
Ecology, sustainability, organic… sometimes they are empty words. We respect the environment and the planet with concrete actions. We grow our own cereals to give the best food to our livestock, we irrigate our meadows with water from the Guadiana and the calves continue to breastfeed until they naturally stop doing so. Without forcing things... everything with respect and naturalness.
Family
Taking care of each other, respecting older people and admiring what they have achieved are the basis that allow us to run our livestock independently. Without pressure from investment funds or third parties on productivity ratios, investment returns or others that would distance us from our main objective. Quality, quality and quality above all.
A getaway to the countryside
A morning living an exclusive experience... a very green, natural meadow, with the best cows and in Badajoz.
